About Dr. Brian D. Mudd

Dr. Mudd is board certified in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery since 1982. He has over 30 years of clinical experience. He received his undergraduate degree in Biology at California State University, Northridge, graduating Summa Cum Laude at the top of his class. He was a Danforth Fellowship Nominee. His postgraduate education in Dentistry and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery was obtained at U.C.L.A. where he also finished in the top of his class, being elected to the dental honor society Omicron Kappa Upsilon. He obtained a certificate in Medicine and Physical Diagnosis from U.S.C./L.A. County Hospital. Dr. Mudd has practiced the full scope of his specialty, with particular emphasis on dental implant reconstruction for the entirety of his career. He is a recognized expert in his field and is presently engaged in using the most advanced and sophisticated 3-dimensional imaging techniques to provide the highest level of accuracy and predictability in surgical results for his patients.

Dr. Mudd maintains membership in numerous local, national, and international professional societies and organizations. He is a founding member of the Simplant Academy, an organization dedicated to teaching other professionals the techniques and benefits of 3-D imaging in dental implant therapy. He is a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and its component societies. Dr. Mudd is retired as a Colonel in the U.S. Air Force Reserve and saw active duty in Operation Desert Storm, the first Gulf War. He is also a graduate of the U.S. Air War College and was awarded the Medal for Meritorious Service upon his retirement.

Dr. Mudd and his wife have enjoyed living and working in North San Diego County since 1979 and are involved in many community activities, particularly those supporting the AIDS Foundation. Dr. Mudd is an avid rough-water swimmer and actively supports youth water sports in the Tri-City area.
